Zoggs goggles are everywhere at Aussie pools, from squad lanes to swim lessons. They're comfortable, affordable and easy to find. But like every goggle, the anti-fog inside the lens doesn't last forever, and one day your favourite Zoggs start fogging halfway through the set.
Good news: your goggles aren't broken, it's just the anti-fog! You can replace the worn-out layer with a clear swim goggle anti-fog patch and keep the pair you already like. Here's why Zoggs fog up, what to check, and how to fix them for months, not minutes.
Why Zoggs goggles fog up
Fog forms when warm, humid air inside your goggles hits a lens cooled by the water. Zoggs treats its lenses to stop that. Some models, like the Fusion Air, are sold with what Zoggs calls Fogbuster anti-fog lenses (product listing). It works well when it's new. Over time, chlorine, salt water, wiping and storage wear the treatment away, and the fog comes back.
And here's the kicker: Zoggs also sells its own EcoFog anti-fog spray for when that happens. If the built-in anti-fog lasted, there'd be no spray to sell. In our experience, sprays barely last one session.
Quick checks before anything else
- Fit: if water gets in, the inside of the lens gets wet and fogs faster. Adjust the strap and nose bridge first.
- Don't wipe the inside: fingers and towels strip anti-fog quickly. Rinse instead.
- Residue: sunscreen, moisturiser and shampoo on your hands can end up on the lens.
- Care: rinse in fresh water after each swim, let them dry completely, and store them in a case somewhere cool and out of the sun.
Quick fixes only last one swim
Sprays, drops, baby shampoo and spit all put a temporary film on the lens. They work for a session, then wash off. Swim three times a week and you're redoing it dozens of times every few months. Our guide on how to restore anti-fog on swim goggles goes through the options.
Fix the fog without buying new Zoggs
FOG OFF! is a clear anti-fog patch that works on goggles of any brand, Zoggs included. One size fits any swim goggle, kids' goggles too, and one application gives you 3+ months of fog-free swims (based on 3+ swims a week).
- Remove the old factory anti-fog. A one-off prep step: wash the inside of each lens with a little detergent and a clean microfibre cloth until the old treatment is completely gone, then dry it thoroughly. The patch won't stick or work properly over the old layer.
- Apply. Peel the RED tab, position the patch with the BLACK tab (nose side first), press firmly from the nose edge outward, then peel off the BLACK tab.
- Activate before each swim. Dip in water and gently rub the film. It reaches full strength over your first 2 to 3 swims.

When it really is time for new Zoggs
A new anti-fog layer can't fix a leaking seal, a snapped strap or a cracked lens. If that's the problem, read when to replace swim goggles.
